INSPIRACIÓN

Pork was one of the first animals brought to the “New World,” becoming an important food source for soldiers during battles. Other foods also arrived, such as lettuce, dairy products, and fruits like mango and cardamom. In Guatemala, Pedro de Alvarado arrived at the beginning of 1524, entering through Zapotitlán, in present-day Retalhuleu, and eventually arriving at Utatlán, the capital of the K’iche’. He would later burn the city, marking one of the first Spanish impositions on the territory.
